Ash is one of our most requested clays that is off white in color, and falls into the mid temperature clay category. This clay is designed for functional or sculpture use incorporating kaolin’s (white firing high temperature clays), ball clay (increased plasticity), feldspar (acts with flint to increase melting), along with clay additives, including a light mesh sand to improve dry strength. Ash works well in oxidation or reduction kiln atmospheres, where it fires off white. There is a reason why Ash clay is requested so much for a wide variety of uses…..it works!
